Easy Passionfruit Martini

Passionfruit Martini (with Vodka)

Majority of the Passionfruit Martinis call for a range of different spirits, liquors and sometimes sparkling wine. Well, we don't like opening a bunch of bottles to make one type of drink (does that make us cheapskates?), so our version of an Easy Passionfruit Martinis is made with just one type of alcohol - VODKA. We also have a suggestion for a mocktail if you don't drink or are on a massive health kick! Read on to see how to make both the cocktail and the mocktail below!

Equipment

  • Cocktail Shaker see notes for details if you don't have one
  • Fine Sieve

Ingredients
 
 

For the Sugar Syrup for 4-5 Cock(mock)tails:

  • 30 g caster sugar
  • 30 ml water

For One Passionfruit Martini:

  • 30 ml vodka/ non-alcoholic spirit (see notes above) or 1 shot
  • 30 ml passionfruit purée (we used Léonce Blanc) or 1 shot
  • 30 ml sparkling grape juice we used Shloer, to top
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 1-2 tablespoon sugar syrup to taste
  • 2 ice cubes
  • ½ passionfruit to serve, optional

Instructions
 

To Make Sugar Syrup:

  • Place equal weight amounts of caster sugar and water in a small pan. Heat until sugar completely dissolves. Then take off the heat and leave to cool completely before using.

To Make Passionfruit Martinis:

  • Place ice cubes in a cocktail shaker. Add vodka or non-alcoholic spirit, passionfruit puree, lime juice and sugar syrup. Skrew the lid on tightly and shake vigorously for at least 20 seconds.
  • Pour the cock(mock)tail through a fine sieve into a glass. A well-shaken martini should form a white foam on top. Carefully top with the sparkling grape juice, trying not to disturb the foam on top. Place half a passionfruit in the middle to decorate! Enjoy!

Notes

If you don’t have a cocktail shaker and can’t justify buying one, here are a few suggestions: 
  • A thermal coffee mug with a lid tightly screwed on
  • A sturdy mason jar 
  • A smoothie maker glass
