Burgers don't have to contain meat to be delicious, filling and extremely satisfying! Halloumi is a perfect alternative for a meat patty. Our Sweet Chilli Halloumi Burgers have it all - the saltiness of halloumi, the sweetness and the heat from sweet chilli and all the lovely textures of the veggies. Arranged in a buttery brioche bun, these are the most delectable summer burgers to impress any vegetarians and meat-lovers alike!
Cut the halloumi in half sideways so you have two slices, dab them with a paper towel to remove excess moisture.
In a bowl, mix the flour and chilli powder. Roll the halloumi patties in the mixture and set aside.
Heat a frying pan with a tablespoon of oil. Once hot, add the halloumi patties and fry for about 5 minutes on each side until crisp and golden. Don't move them too much or they will lose their crispy coating.
In the meantime, mix mayo, lime juice and sweet chilli in a small bowl.
Lightly toast the brioche buns. Spread some of the sweet chilli mayo on the bottom half, and top with shredded lettuce leaves, avocado and tomatoes. Place a crispy halloumi slice on top and drizzle with the remaining mayo. Scatter some red onion and top with the other half of the brioche bun.
