Happy New Year and welcome to Veganuary! We are starting the year with a month of plant-based foods! And it’s our third year in a row! Here we are sharing the best vegan cookbooks that we’ve come across over the years!
It’s such a great way to start a year right and recover from the copious amounts of food we had over the festive period! Also, it’s a brilliant learning experience for any keen home-cooks: you will discover new recipes, exciting ingredients and innovative cooking methods over the month! I can honestly admit that before my first Veganuary, I had never cooked with miso or jackfruit, had never even heard of seitan or tempeh, and honestly thought of tofu as the most boring tasting ingredient in the world! Veganuary changed that for me and I am forever grateful!

What are the 10 Best Vegan Cookbooks for 2021?
1. Bosh by Ian Theasby and Henry Firth
Our favourite so far is none other but Bosh. Written by two vegan friends, this cookbook certainly takes you on a journey. From AMAZING Asian dishes to British Classics (their Vegan Sticky Toffee Recipe is to die for…), this is a good all-round vegan cookbook, that is suited for someone who likes cooking and isn’t scared of sometimes lengthy ingredients list! It’s all worth it though, trust me!
2. Rebel Recipes by Niki Webster
An absolutely wonderful book for the more adventurous and curious cooks. Full of Indian and the Middle East-inspired recipes, this vegan cookbook is definitely the one for someone who’s looking for new and exciting meals to spice up their meal plan. It is also a great place for amazing refined-sugar-free desserts, that taste divine! Our personal favourite is Niki’s Coconut and Mango Panna Cotta with Tahini Biscuits.
3. Easy Vegan by Sue Quinn
We cooked at least 80% of the recipes in this book and were never disappointed! From amazing salads and grain bowls to brilliant vegan cake recipes, this is an all-round cookbook for anyone looking to start eating more home-made plant-based meals.
4. So Vegan in 5 by Roxy Pope and Ben Pook
The best vegan cookbook for beginners and anyone who doesn’t like spending too much time in the kitchen. Each recipe uses only 5 ingredients. Not only that, the recipes are easy to follow and pretty foolproof. Simple, everyday ingredients for those short on time!
5. Bish Bash Bosh by Ian Theasby and Henry Firth
A second cookbook by Bosh! And it’s definitely in our Top 10 list. With an excellent selection of both easy and more advanced meals, this cookbook offers a great selection of festive Christmas recipes! Similarly to their first vegan cookbook, Bish Bash Bosh has something for every taste: simple cookies, a British-style seaside pie and Indian biryani – you’ll find all of it in this brilliant recipe book!
6. Vegan Richa’s Everyday Kitchen by Richa Hingle
I’ve been following Vegan Richa on social media for years and enjoy both the western and Indian recipes Richa creates! Amazing selection of salads, vegan comfort food and desserts!
7. One Pot Vegan by Roxy Pope and Ben Pook
The latest cookbook from So Vegan is all about one-pot recipes! We all know what that means – minimal washing-up, right? Scrumptious plant-based pies, roasts and tarts. I would definitely recommend this cookbook for someone who cooks for a crowd!
8. Vegan Sreet Food by Jackie Kearney
A vegan cookbook with recipes from all around the world! Call it junk food, urban food or simply comfort food, this book is brilliant for those days when you’re craving something naughty but guilt-free at the same time! Definitely recommended for someone who hosts lots of parties and get-togethers, as this cookbook has an array or recipes for irresistible snacks and bites!
9. Bosh Healthy Vegan by Ian Theasby and Henry Firth
Bosh has made it into our list for the third time! Yes, Healthy Vegan is another great plant-based recipe book, suited for someone who is a bit more conscious about the nutrition, calories and overall healthy eating. But don’t fret, there is no compromising on flavour when it comes to Bosh Recipes!
10. Be More Vegan by Niki Webster
Not only a cookbook but also a guide for someone looking to eat more plant-based foods. Aside from delicious recipes from Niki Webster, this book offers a bit more background regarding vegan lifestyle, including animal welfare, environmental issues and health benefits.
